Join Cumberland Recreation as a Summer Camp Leader!

We have exciting contract opportunities for Junior and Senior Day Camp Leaders. We’re looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in recreation and the outdoors and a passion for teaching children. You’ll be working in a creative environment focused on delivering active, safe programs for kids to learn new skills, have fun, and meet friends.

Applicants must be available to work through July and August, 2022 between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday, with some availability for training in June. Our week-long day camps are targeted for ages 3-5 and 5-11 and run between 3-8 hours in length each day. All leaders must be comfortable swimming in the lake with children while wearing a PFD.


Junior Leaders are responsible for providing day camp participants with an active, safe and stimulating environment to develop social skills and general well-being. Focus is on camp facilitation assistance under the direction of senior camp leaders.

Qualifications: Current First Aid and CPR C, Grade 10 completion, experience working with children, clear Criminal Record Check

Wage: $16-19 per hour depending on qualifications and experience


Senior Leaders perform the same function as Junior Leaders but are also responsible for the design and implementation of the day camp programs. Senior Leaders also act as mentors to Junior Leaders by helping them develop leadership skills.

Qualifications: Current First Aid and CPR C, Grade 12 completion, experience working in a recreation and/or education setting, Class 5 BC drivers license, High Five certification (preferred), clear Criminal Record Check

Wage: $22-25 per hour depending on qualifications and experience

While these Summer 2022 Contract Day Camp Leader positions are ideally suited for those seeking full-time summer work there are some part-time and on-call positions available as well.
