Campfire Ban Now in Effect

Posted on

Cumberland’s Fire Chief has banned all outdoor fires within the Village boundaries. This burning ban follows on the establishment of a Provincial campfire ban in all areas of the Coastal Fire Centre due to the current trend of hot and dry weather.

This ban applies to open fires of any size, and includes campfires and tiki torches. It does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.

Anyone found in violation of this ban is subject to a maximum penalty of $2000 and may be charged for the expense of the Fire Department to extinguish the fire.
