Are you interested in ensuring fairness in the implementation of land use regulations in the Village? Then volunteering on the Village’s Board of Variance might be for you!
The three-member Board of Variance considers applications of minor variances to the Village’s Zoning Bylaw and other land use bylaws where the applicant asserts that it would represent hardship to comply with the bylaw.
When reviewing applications, the Board considers whether granting the variance would:
• result in inappropriate development of the site
• adversely affect the natural environment
• substantially affect the use and enjoyment of adjacent land
• vary permitted uses and densities.
• defeat the intent of the bylaw.
In the past, the Board has met infrequently. Meetings are scheduled with Board members when an application is received.
Information about the Board’s role and authority and the application process is available here
To apply, download a committee application form, complete and submit the form by email or in person at the Village office at 2673 Dunsmuir Avenue.
