Council Tables Marijuana Dispensary Applications Pending New Legislation

Many Cumberland residents attended the March 27 Council meeting to hear Council’s decision on whether to permit any medical marijuana dispensaries in the Village. At the meeting, Council considered the four Temporary Use Permit applications, a staff report, and more than 20 letters from the public.
Following presentations from the applicants and a local resident, Council decided to table the applications until the federal and provincial governments come forward with legislation to legalize and regulate marijuana. There are no medical marijuana dispensaries approved to operate in Cumberland at this time.
