Cumberland Recreation is seeking after-school program leaders

Help us create unforgettable recreation experiences for kids!

Cumberland Recreation is looking for after-school program leaders for Mondays and/or Tuesday afternoons from September 2020 through June 2021. Applicants must be available between 2:45 and 4:45 Mondays and/or Tuesdays and must be confident and capable of managing a group of children between the ages of 5 and 12 while providing fun, safe and unforgettable recreation experiences.

We’re looking for leaders to deliver broad-based programs that will appeal to a diverse array of interests. Programs that incorporate an element of outdoor education are preferred; other activities could include movement skills, games, crafts, challenges and more. We will provide indoor and outdoor spaces and can supply equipment as needed/available, but it’s expected that the leader will design his or her own program(s) and deliver it with minimal direction from recreation staff. Successful applicants will be hired as independent contractors at a rate of between $20 and $25 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required qualifications:

  • Current first aid and CPR C
  • Grade 12 completion
  • Experience working with children in a recreation or education setting
  • Clear criminal record check
  • High Five certification and/or physical literacy training (preferred)

Contractors who enter into a contract for after-school programming may also have opportunities to deliver other programs from time to time, including Pro-D Day activities, winter camps and other children’s activities.
