Cumberland Residents Reduce Summer Water Consumption By 44%

Posted on

In just three years, Cumberland residents have reduced their summer water consumption by 44%. From 2012 to 2015, total residential water consumption from July to September was reduced by over 46,000 m3.

Total residential water consumption:

July to September 2015: 58,226 m3

July to September 2012: 104,510 m3

This means that each resident used an average of 0.17 m3 of water each day in the summer of 2015 compared to an average of 0.34 m3 each day for the same period in 2012. This is based on a 2012 population of 3398 and an estimated 2015 population of 3700.

Summer is when we use the most water and rainfall occurs less often so it is important to use our water effectively.
