Heavy Rain Expected on Tuesday-Wednesday

Posted on

Cumberland is expecting heavy rain this Tuesday to Wednesday, February 14-15, 2017.

The Village of Cumberland is providing some sand to residents for flood prevention. Sand and sand bags will be available outside the Public Works gate at the bottom of First Street starting Tuesday afternoon. There is no cost to access the bags and the sand, but residents should bring their own shovels.

Heavy rains can cause flooding from road runoff or sewers backing up. Residents can call the Public Works emergency number, 250-702-3737, to report after-hours and weekend emergencies.

Residents can help prevent flooding in their neighbourhoods by checking that catchbasins (storm drains) are clear.
