Join the Online Discussions on Climate Actions for Cumberland

Posted on

If you missed the Tuesday February 6 in-person Climate Action Café, it’s not too late to have input!

Join us online on Thursday, February 15 from 6:30 pm – 8 pm to discuss climate actions for the community. Email planning@nullcumberland.ca to receive a Zoom meeting invitation.

We are happy to share that the February 6 Climate Action Café at the Masonic Hall was well attended (around 50 people). The Village received a lot of valuable input – through written comments on poster boards and discussion round tables on climate change mitigation (reducing emissions) and adaptation (how best to prepare for the impacts).

The free hot chocolate, cookies, and children’s activity table were a hit with younger participants. One child also joined a discussion table prompting the adults to think of “more light.” This resulted in discussion on solar power, passive heating and cooling and other strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The comments received at the event will be summarized and posted at engagecomoxvalley.ca/cumberland in March. Stay abreast of project updates by “following” the site.
