New Boardwalk Installed near Chinatown
Posted on
The Village of Cumberland is excited to announce the completion of another improvement to the Village trail system – the installation of a new boardwalk near Chinatown. Working with a local contractor, the project was completed just before Christmas.
The 100′ cedar boardwalk spans a seasonal wet area adjacent to the wetlands on the boundary of the Cumberland Community Forest and Coal Creek Historic park, near the picnic shelter in Chinatown.
The trail is very popular and is widely used by hikers, runners, mountain bikers and visitors exploring the Chinatown area and trails of the Cumberland Community Forest. It is a popular connector from Mama Bears/Swamp Trail, the No. 3 Mine Road and Bronco’s Perseverance in the Community Forest to the Wellington Colliery Trail and other trails accessed through Coal Creek Historic Park.
