The Village of Cumberland has initiated a master park planning process for Coal Creek Historic Park and is seeking information from park stakeholders on current and proposed uses of the park.
These interests may include such things as special event use, a specific activity based on current park amenities, or a proposal for a new activity or use of the park.
Residents and representatives from local organizations are invited to join Village staff to share their ideas on
Wednesday March 19th, 2014
5:30 – 7:00 pm
Council Chambers at 2675 Dunsmuir Avenue (next to the Fire Hall)
Please note that this session is meant solely to gather information on past, current and proposed uses of the park and not debate/discuss the appropriateness of these activities. The information gathered will then be used in upcoming consultations with the Council-appointed Coal Creek Historic Park Advisory Committee and the general public, and will ultimately be used in developing a park plan that is based upon the environmental and historic context of the land.
Future phases of the park planning process will include a public open house where a conceptual park plan will be presented, scheduled to occur in May 2014. Feedback from residents and local user groups will also be received at that time.
Residents that are unable to attend the meeting but would like to submit comments or feedback on current park uses, or a proposal for future park use, please make a written submission to Kevin McPhedran by Monday March 17th, 2014. Submissions are to outline details of the proposed activity, the proposed location, and any other relevant details.
