Fourth Street intersection and North side of Dunsmuir Avenue to close between 4th Street and 3rd Street starting Tuesday, September 6th

Posted on

The intersection of Fourth Street and Dunsmuir Avenue, and the North side of Dunsmuir Avenue between Fourth Street and Third Street in downtown Cumberland is scheduled to be closed starting Tuesday, September 6th.

This closure is necessary due to the critical work underway in the village to replace underground infrastructure along the main street, and is in addition to the existing road closure of Dunsmuir Avenue between Fourth Street and Fifth Street. It’s expected this portion of road will see intermittent closures for a month.

The bus stop in front of the library will be affected by the closure and residents are advised to check with BC Transit for route updates.

During this time, vehicle traffic will be directed along Third Street to access the west end of Dunsmuir (turning off Cumberland Road at the Peace Park) or along Ulverston Ave. to access the east end of the main road. View the detour map.

The detour allows for easy access to all the areas of downtown Dunsmuir and surrounding recreation areas, which will remain open throughout this work.
