Cumberland Receives Heritage BC Funding

Posted on

The Village of Cumberland will receive a grant of $2175 through the Heritage Legacy Fund to support work on a community heritage register.

A community heritage register is created to recognize historic places. The funding will be used to create Statements of Significance for three Cumberland heritage features. These statements will describe the sites and their heritage value, and allow them to be added to a heritage register by Council in the future.

The Heritage Legacy Fund is administered by Heritage BC and provides grants for heritage conservation, awareness-building and planning projects throughout British Columbia.

Heritage BC Chair Gord Macdonald says, “These projects increase awareness and interpretation of historic places in communities throughout the province. They will have real impact on the communities and how we tell our story as British Columbians.”
