Smoking Ban in Cumberland Parks and Trails

Posted on

As of August 1, 2017, smoking is prohibited in all Village of Cumberland parks and trails, by order of the Fire Chief. The ban will be lifted when conditions improve.

The Village requests that residents and recreational forest users pay attention to fire hazards to protect our forest lands. Cumberland is not yet in an extreme fire hazard situation, but the weather is in a drying trend, with hot weather and little to no precipitation forecasted. This weather trend is expected to continue.

At this time, there are no trail closures, but they may be required as the warm, dry weather continues. Further notices regarding fire safety in the trails and trail closures will be posted online and at trail kiosks.

For more information, contact Fire Chief Mike Williamson at 250-336-2291 or Manager of Recreation Leah Knutson at 250-336-2231.
