Strategically located in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, the Village of Cumberland (cumberland.ca) is a progressive and growing municipality known for its unique mixture of heritage architecture, proximity to outstanding outdoor recreation and world-class arts and music. Home to over 3800 residents, Cumberland is the youngest and fastest growing municipality in the Comox Valley.
Currently the Village is in the process of undertaking construction of a new water treatment facility and reservoir along with implementing expanded maintenance utility practices. This new utility position was created to meet the growing needs of our organization and the community, and the Village of Cumberland is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to fill this role.
The Utility II Person position, under the direction of the Public Works Foreman, is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing the water supply, wastewater and storm collection systems, equipment and related facilities of the Village of Cumberland – including operation of the water treatment plant and wastewater treatment facilities; troubleshooting and resolving problems; performing tests and making adjustments as required.
The ideal candidate will have five years of experience in water and wastewater on the treatment side and some related experience on the distribution/collection side, along with experience in the repair and maintenance of municipal infrastructure. Along with Environmental Operator Certifications in both treatment and distribution/collection for water and sewer, the candidate should also possess Chlorine Handling and Confined Space Entry training.
