Nominations to elect one Mayor, four Councillors, and one School Trustee will be received by the Village of Cumberland during the nomination period from 9:00 am on September 4, 2018 to 4:00 pm September 14, 2018, excluding statutory holidays and weekends.
Nominations delivered by hand, mail or other delivery service must be received at the Village of Cumberland office during the nomination period at the Village office during regular office hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Important: You must have your declaration taken by a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in BC or the Chief Election Officer by the nomination deadline of September 14, 2018 at 4pm.
Nomination documents may be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org (you will receive an email to confirm receipt) or by fax to 250-336-2321 during the nomination period. The originals of emailed or faxed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:30 pm on September 21, 2018.
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
- Canadian citizen;
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day on October 20, 2018
- resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
