Red Dress Awareness Campaign

Posted on

Cumberland is hosting the Red Dress installation at Peace Park for the 2018 Red Dress campaign from September 30 to October 8, 2018 in honour of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

The vision and hope for this campaign is to have many other communities in Canada plan events around the first week of October. If you would like to be involved and show your support, it’s as simple as hanging a Red Dress in your front yard, your place of business or store front. We encourage you to share this information with friends, family, co-workers and within your community and hang a Red Dress.

Find out more about Jaime Black’s Red Dress Project and the Kumugwe Dance Society.

Everyone is welcome to the opening ceremony on Saturday, September 29 at noon at Peace Park at the intersection of Fourth Street, Third Street and Ulverston Avenue. Join the Kumugwe Society, IHOS Gallery, and Comox Valley Transition Society for this special event. For traffic safety please do not park on Fourth Street.
