Changes to Land Development Procedures and Fees

Posted on

The Village is proposing to update its land development application procedures and fees through Bylaw No. 1073, Development Procedures and Fees Bylaw. This bylaw was last updated in 2014.

For more information on the proposed changes, you are welcome to attend this open house:

Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 7 to 9 pm
Village Council Chambers at 2675 Dunsmuir Avenue (beside the Fire Hall at First Street)

All land development applications require a fee to cover processing costs. There are set procedures for processing each type of application, including

  • official community plan bylaw amendments and rezonings
  • development permits, and temporary use permits
  • heritage alteration permits
  • development variance permits

In order to determine if application fees needed to be changed, staff tracked the actual time to process various applications and developed a fee structure in line with other municipalities. The attached chart documents some key changes in the Village’s fees and provides comparisons with the Town of Comox, City of Courtenay and Comox Valley Regional District.
