Notice of Temporary Closure to the Wellington Colliery Trail beginning November 7th

Posted on

The Village of Cumberland advises trail users that a section of the Wellington Colliery Trail, including the Boundary Creek Bridge (aka the swamp crossing) connecting to Josh Trail and the Cumberland Community Forest, will be closed beginning Wednesday November 7th.

The closure is necessary to enable upgrades to the hydro corridor for the new Water Treatment Plant. Construction works include:

  • Widening of a short section of trail (up to 1m) to accommodate BC Hydro equipment as part of the three phase power upgrade required.
  • Pruning of trees and shrubs along sections of the trail.
  • Installation of a new gate at the junction of the Wellington Colliery Trail and the south end of Second Street.

The work is expected to last approximately three days.

Please obey all posted signage and follow the direction of crews on site. The Cumberland Community Forest trails will remain open, including Josh Trail, via access through the Yellow Gate at the junction of Sutton Road and Lake Road.

Thank you for your patience.
