Recreation Financial Assistance Programs: FAIR & LEAP

This page was last reviewed on October 21, 2024.

The Village of Cumberland is pleased to offer our in-house Financial Assistance In Recreation program (FAIR) to Village residents who meet eligibility requirements. In addition, we’ve partnered with the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) to offer LEAP, a joint financial assistance program that provides benefits across the Comox Valley.

Resident families and individuals who are working low-income, on BC benefits and/or whose family pre-tax income does not exceed the Statistics Canada Low-Income Measure (see 2024 or 2025 applications for cut-offs) are eligible for these programs, which are described below.

FAIR

Available exclusively to Village of Cumberland residents, the FAIR program offers qualifying residents a credit of $350 per calendar year that can be used toward a 50% discount on any registered program(s).

LEAP

Qualifying Comox Valley residents are eligible for 52 free admissions in each of the four jurisdictions (Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and the CVRD). Details can be found in the application form below.

How to Apply

For simplicity, there is one single application form for all Comox Valley low-income recreation assistance programs, including LEAP and FAIR, plus Courtenay’s RAP and Comox’s TRIP programs. Applications can be submitted at any municipal or Regional District recreation centre in the Comox Valley. Complete details can be found on the second page of the application form linked below.
