If you are the property owner, once you have completed this online application you will be able to print and use the permit immediately.

If you are not the property owner, you will be required to submit the property owner's signature to the Village of Cumberland Office and the permit is NOT VALID until approved by Village staff.

You may be required to present a copy of this permit upon request from the fire chief or designated duty officer at any time.

- Fire Protection Services and Regulation Bylaw No. 988, 2014 applies to this permit.
*
- The applicant is responsible for fires authorized by this permit and must be equipped with a source of water or equipment to extinguish the fire at all times.
*
- Fires must be a maximum of 0.5 m diameter in size and must be in a fire ring or other non-combustible material fitted with a screening device of 9.5mm mesh or smaller.
*
- Fires must be at least 3 m from any building and 1.5 m from any driftwood, vegetation, or any other combustible material, and not beneath the branches of any tree.
*
- Fires must be supervised by a competent person 18 years of age or older until the fire is completely extinguished.
*
- The applicant must burn only dry vegetative matter, which is fed to the fire so that rapid ignition and burning occurs.
*
- The applicant must take precautions to prevent smoke from being generated or becoming a nuisance.
*
- The applicant is responsible for all costs incurred to suppress any fire that escapes or threatens to escape.
*
- This permit may be cancelled or suspended by the Manager of Protective Services at any time.
*
- Once complete, this burning permit is valid only for recreational fires within the Village of Cumberland.
Any person who violates any provisions of this permit is liable for applicable fines, fees and charges.
