Cumberland Drop-In Adult Social Club

The Cumberland Drop-In Adult Social Club is a volunteer-led initiative that welcomes adults of all abilities to play games, pursue leisurely pastimes and enjoy the company of friends and neighbours. Plus, we feature a $5.50 hot lunch the first Tuesday of each month.
Come enjoy some friendly games like Bridge, Cribbage, Whist, Chess or Mahjong, or connect with others in the community with a book club or sewing circle while enjoying a complimentary coffee, tea or maybe event some other light refreshments. Keep your eyes open (and refer to this page) for details about guest speakers or specific activities, or just drop in to find out what’s going on.
The Social Club is very much shaped by the community, so drop in, enjoy some leisure time and let us know how we can shape this new initiative to meet the needs of our community!

Where?
Buchanan Hall, lower level of the Cumberland Cultural Centre, 2674 Dunsmuir Ave. across from the Recreation Centre
When?
Tuesdays 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and Fridays, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Please note the Adult Social Club will not run in July but will return August 6, 2024.
How much?
Drop-in admission to the Social Club is $3 per visit, or free with your Cumberland Recreation membership. Please note that only cash is accepted at Buchanan Hall and change may not be available (bring exact change please); if you need to pay with credit or debit card, please visit the Recreation Centre reception (across the street) before your visit, or purchase a membership.
$5.50 Hot Lunch
Thanks to a partnership with Plates Eatery and the Cumberland Community Schools Society, we are proud to offer a $5.50 hot lunch on the first Tuesday of each month. Lunches must be ordered and paid for in advance; orders can be placed in-person at the Adult Social Club. Orders can be placed up until Tuesday of the week prior.
Please note that the $3 Adult Social Club drop-in fee is still required.
Upcoming Activities
SAIL “ChairFit” demonstrations: Tuesdays @ 11:30
Local paramedic Jason Stevens leads these demonstrations of Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL), an evidence-based strength, balance and fitness program designed for adults 65 and older. The goal is to help older adults stay active and reduce their chances of falling.
