South Sewer Project Takes Another Step

Posted on

The Comox Valley Regional District has announced that it will release its shortlist of wastewater management options for Royston and Union Bay, along with estimate of costs, at an open house to be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm at the Union Bay Community Hall. View the CVRD South Sewer Project Update newsletter.

The Village of Cumberland determined its preferred option for sewage treatment in 2011, being participation in the proposed South Sewer Project for long term sewage treatment and disposal, subject to financial, governance and implementation issues being resolved to Cumberland’s satisfaction.

Once the CVRD takes the step of identifying its preferred wastewater management option of those shortlisted, which is expected to take place in the coming months, Cumberland Council may determine whether the Village will participate in the project.

A report giving background information on the project and Cumberland’s Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) will be presented at the January 12, 2015 Cumberland council meeting.
