Winter Road Damage
Posted on
Snow and rain cause damage to the Village’s roads each year. Freezing and thawing can cause pavement to fail, especially on some of our older streets where there is no gravel road base.
Once crews have done what they can to truck away some of the snow volume from arterial roads and some of the local collector roads, crews will begin cold patching potholes as resources and weather allow. Winter is a challenging time for road repair and crews are limited to using temporary cold patches until hot asphalt repairs are possible in the spring and summer. Drivers are asked to use caution and drive with care.
Did you know that annual road and utility reconstruction projects are prioritized based on the condition of sewer and water lines under the road, as well as the condition of the road base? Projects are funded in the five year financial plan, which is adopted bylaw each year.
