A public hearing on the proposed Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1230, 2025 and proposed Zoning Bylaw No. 1238, 2025 will be held on:

Monday, December 15, 2025 at 5:30 pm
at the Cultural Centre at 2674 Dunsmuir Avenue, Cumberland.

Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1230, 2025 applies to all lands within the Village of Cumberland municipal boundary. In general terms, Bylaw 1230 sets out a long-term vision, goal and policies to guide land use, growth and change in Cumberland. Bylaw 1230 also shapes development through development permit area guidelines that protect sensitive ecosystems and regulate the form and character of multi-unit residential, commercial and industrial development.

Zoning Bylaw No. 1238, 2025 applies to all lands within the Village of Cumberland municipal boundary. Bylaw 1238 is one of the tools for the Village to implement the land use and growth management goals and policies in the Official Community Plan. Bylaw 1238 regulates land use, creating a consistent set of rules for residential, commercial, industrial areas and other types of land uses.

Bylaw 1230 and Bylaw 1238 implement the new requirements of the Local Government Act to designate and zone sufficient land to meet the projected 5- and 20-year housing need in the community.

Public Input

At the public hearing, all persons will be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard before Council or to present written submissions.

Written comments can also be submitted in advance up to 2:00 p.m. on the date of the public hearing:

  • By mail to the Village Office at Box 340, Cumberland BC V0R 1S0
  • In person to the Village Office at 2673 Dunsmuir Avenue, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, except on holidays
  • By email to planning@cumberland.ca.

All submissions become part of the public record and may be made available on the Village website.
