125th Community Celebration
Posted on
On June 10th, the Village of Cumberland is hosting a free day-long event called “Belonging 125“ to mark the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of Cumberland. The day includes live music, cultural performances, strawberry tea, dumplings, interactive art, a new exhibition at the Cumberland Museum, lantern making and more!
Belonging 125 is a day to reflect on the path that has brought us to today and to renew our commitment to create space in our community for past, present and future Villagers.
Details on the event can be found HERE
We hope you will attend. Here are a couple ways to get involved!
Participate in the interactive data art project “You are Here“
Villagers past and present are asked to take a few minutes to add their thoughts and experiences in the weeks leading up to the June 10th.
“You Are Here” is an interactive project designed to illuminate our relationship to ourselves, loved ones, and community. This project is for anyone who’s experienced connection or disconnection, compassion or indifference, belonging or longing.
Join data artist Sarah Emery Clark and the Belonging 125 team in sharing your community experience through this online survey. The anonymous reflections you contribute today will be interpreted in a public artwork, co-created with the community. Explore our collective stories and witness the shape that emerges on June 10th at Cumberland’s 125th.
Please complete the survey (found here) by June 4th.
