Climbing Boulder Donation Accepted and Approved

Posted on

Since June of 2023 Cumberland Parks and Recreation have been working on a proposal submitted by an informal group of four local residents to approve the installation of a climbing boulder within a Village park.

The group was tasked to raise 100% of the project funds; following Council’s approval in principle. In the winter of 2024 Council supported the project with a $2000 Community Grant program and in the summer of 2024 the project became fully funded.

Installation is set for early 2025 at No. 6 Mine Park.

The addition of the boulders is likely to create expanded opportunities for recreation programming while prioritizing free community usage.
