Road Closure and Noise Bylaw Exemption for Special Event August 16

Posted on

Cumberland residents are advised that the Village has approved the temporary closure of Dunsmuir Avenue, as well as a Noise Control bylaw exemption, for the Rock the Block event this Saturday, August 16.

Dunsmuir Avenue will be closed to vehicles between First Street and Second Street from 10:00 a.m. until Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m. Busses and through traffic will be re-routed to Derwent during the closure, and no bus stops will be affected.

The Noise Control Bylaw exemption allows amplified music from the event until 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. In an effort to minimize the impact of noise, the event organizer has indicated that speakers will be on pallets in order to reduce sympathetic vibrations of the bass and be aimed away from the nearest residential areas.

Those impacted can submit comments to the Village office at info@cumberland.ca or by calling 250.336.2291 during regular office hours. Find out more about the Noise Control Bylaw or the Street Closures for Special Events Policy.
