The survey is part of public consultations to inform the update of the Village’s Transportation Master Plan (TMP). The current Plan dates to 2007. Since that time, the community has witnessed significant growth. Transportation trends and needs have changed considerably and continue to evolve as society seeks to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and deal with the impacts of climate change on transportation infrastructure.
The Transportation Master Plan will encompass all forms of mobility including walking, rolling, cycling and transit and all transportation-related infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, cycling and multi-use pathways, parking spaces, and bus stops.
The Village hosted a Plan Your Community street event on Third Street and Dunsmuir Ave on May 24 from 12 noon to 7 pm. The event sought input from residents on possible active transportation and traffic calming improvements on different streets in the Village. A sample streetscape allowed residents to experience a mock round-about and a street with separated bike lanes. The event poster boards will be posted at https://connectcumberland.ca/transportation-master-plan
