Advisory Planning Commission

The Advisory Planning Commission reviews matters referred to it by Cumberland Village Council and provides comments and recommendations.

For example, the APC may be asked to review and provide comments on the following types of applications:

  • Amendments to the Official Community Plan
  • Rezoning of property to a different use or density
  • Development permits and development variance permits (on referral by Council)

In addition, the APC may be asked to review and make a recommendation on plans and strategies in regard to parks and greenways, housing options, climate action, transportation and mobility.

In general, Village Council may refer matters to the APC respecting land use, community planning or proposed bylaw or permits contained in Part 14 of the Local Government Act.

Meetings

In accordance with the Advisory Planning Commission Bylaw, meetings of the APC are called within one month of any application referred to the APC by Council. Meetings are schedule monthly but may be cancelled from time to time if there is no referral.

Meetings are typically held the second Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. in the Council Chamber at 2675 Dunsmuir Avenue.
