Are the Bears Visiting Your Fruit Tree?

Posted on

It’s important to pick your ripe and fallen fruit daily to help bears from becoming food conditioned, human-habituated, and destroyed.

If you need help picking your fruit, contact the Lush Fruit Tree Program at fruit@nulllushvalley.org or 250-331-0152. The Fruit Tree and Farm Gleaning Program provides volunteers to harvest and redistribute thousands of pounds of fresh fruit and produce from homes, farms and orchards that would otherwise go to waste, and re-distributes the produce back to the community. The program increases access to fresh local produce for people who need it, decreases food waste and emissions , and decreases bears and other animal attractants.
