Cumberland Recognized as a Climate Action Community
Posted on
Cumberland has received level 2 recognition from the joint Provincial-Union of BC Municipalities Green Communities Committee for its completion of its 2013 corporate carbon inventory.
The Village’s Corporate Climate Action Plan explores opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with Village operations, makes recommendations for action, and quantifies the likely costs and benefits of the most significant actions.
Cumberland signed on to the BC Climate Action Charter in 2010, making the commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the community, to becoming carbon neutral, and creating a complete, compact and energy-efficient community. In so doing, the Village must measure and report on the community’s greenhouse gas emissions profile.
