Coal Creek Historic Park – Wellington Colliery Trail Closure in Effect

The section of Wellington Colliery Trail from Chinatown to No 1 Japanese Town in Coal Creek Historic Park has been closed following an incident on February 10, 2026. The Village Parks, Bylaw and Public Works Departments, in coordination with the RCMP, are responding to a motor vehicle trespass violation that requires extraction of a stranded vehicle from the edge of the trail.
The trail will be reopened follow extraction and any required trail repairs. In the meantime, residents are requested to avoid the area for their safety and to enable crews to complete the work.
