Council Meeting Update

The April 27, 2020 Council meeting was streamed live through the Village’s new Youtube Channel. See the April 27, 2020 meeting page to watch the video and read the meeting agenda.
Here is a summary of meeting highlights:
- Council approved the 2019 Audited Financial Statements
- Cumberland will participate in two regional projects on poverty reduction and active transportation
- Council identified priority policing issues as community policing, traffic and road safety including off-road vehicles, and patrols for Cumberland Lake Park and Comox Lake.
- Council approved a Zoning Bylaw setback variance for 4708 Cumberland Road
- Council will consider the 2020 property tax rates at a special Council meeting on May 4, 2020 at 2pm which will be lived streamed via Zoom. Find out more.
- Council approved holding public meetings in Moncrief Hall at the Cultural Centre at 2694 Dunsmuir avenue (beside the Museum) to provide more space for physical distancing as as Covid-19 restrictions are eased
- Council gave three readings to an amendment to the Council Procedure Bylaw in regard to calling and cancelling meetings.
- Council also discussed heritage character of the Camp Road neighbourhood and heritage protection in the Village.
