Council to Consider Land Exchange Agreement with School Board

Posted on

At its meeting on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. Cumberland Council will consider entering into a land exchange agreement with School District 71.

The Village has been working with School District 71 officials to investigate the possibility of a Cumberland School campus concept. In order to proceed with the campus option, the Village must consider closing a portion of Ulverston Road between Egremont and First Street.

The School District is willing to exchanging a parcel of School District owned land at the corner Silecroft Road and Beaufort Avenue. The proposed road closure would be subject to the adoption of a road closure bylaw and the necessary public consultation, as well as the approval of any subdivision by the subdivision approving officer.
