Download the new Waste Wise App

The Village of Cumberland, in partnership with the Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM), is implementing a new solid waste collection app, Waste Wise.

Waste Wise is a free app to remind residents about collection day, send alerts about any pickup delays and is a tool to answer the question “can I recycle this?” Once the app has been downloaded onto your phone you can personalize when you want to receive the notification, either the night before, or the morning of collection day.

“Never forget whether it is garbage or recycling day again,” says Mayor Vickey Brown. “Sharing this service with the CSWM means little additional cost for the Village and will provide a valuable tool for our residents, this is a great example of how we can collaborate regionally to efficiently deliver services.”

An important feature of the Waste Wise app is Waste Wizard. Here, residents can look up various materials and the app will tell you if it is recyclable, reusable or waste, and where it is accepted, i.e. at curbside, local depots, reuse facilities, or landfills. If the item isn’t found in the list you can use the suggestions feature to get it included.

Download Waste Wise onto your phone today by searching “Cumberland Waste Wise” in your app store.
