Forestry Slash Pile Burning This Fall

Posted on

Residents are advised that open burning of slash piles from forestry operations will take place on private managed forest lands around the Village in late October and November 2018. Please note that local governments in BC have limited control over forest management activities on private managed forest land.

This burning will take place as suitable weather, wind and venting conditions are occurring. Forestry company crews will monitor the burning with the assistance of Cumberland Fire Rescue. Forestry company staff are cooperating with the Village by burning this slash debris in the fall and winter months to help reduce the risk of summer forest fires, which could be a more serious threat to the community.
