On November 17, 2021 a State of Emergency was declared for all of BC due to flooding and landslides that pose a threat to lives, property and infrastructure.
As a result of these unprecedented weather events, the Provincial supply chain has been impacted significantly including the supply of fuel to regions including Vancouver Island. In order to maintain a reliable fuel supply necessary for the provision of essential services, restrictions on the purchase of fuel are now in place until December 1, 2021 and non-essential travel along severely damaged highways is restricted.
To support the emergency efforts and help reduce demand on an already tenuous supply chain, we are asking everyone to:
- Respect the emergency order in place.
- Limit non-essential personal travel and avoid visiting smaller communities who have limited supplies.
- Look for opportunities to carpool, cycling or use transit for commuting. Visit www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/transit for Transit fares and schedules.
Everyone has an impact on the supply chain and our local efforts can be helpful to those in more impacted areas. For more information on the guidelines and order visit: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/natural-disaster/support/restrictions.Search again
