On November 17, 2021 a State of Emergency was declared for all of BC due to flooding and landslides that pose a threat to lives, property and infrastructure.

As a result of these unprecedented weather events, the Provincial supply chain has been impacted significantly including the supply of fuel to regions including Vancouver Island. In order to maintain a reliable fuel supply necessary for the provision of essential services, restrictions on the purchase of fuel are now in place until December 1, 2021 and non-essential travel along severely damaged highways is restricted.

To support the emergency efforts and help reduce demand on an already tenuous supply chain, we are asking everyone to:

  • Respect the emergency order in place.
  • Limit non-essential personal travel and avoid visiting smaller communities who have limited supplies.
  • Look for opportunities to carpool, cycling or use transit for commuting. Visit for Transit fares and schedules.
