Lake Park Webcams and Boat Launch Staff to Improve Visitor Experience

Posted on

Cumberland, BC – The Village of Cumberland and Lake Park Society are pleased to announce several updates and changes to Cumberland Lake Park operations, aimed at enhancing the experience and safety for all park users.

Before heading to the lake, you can now check current conditions at the main parking lot and the boat launch through a webcam on the Cumberland Lake Park & Campgroup website. Click here to view Parking Lot Cam – Cumberland Lake Park & Campground.
Updated at five-minute intervals, the webcam offers a real time view of parking availability to help plan your visit more effectively during peak times.

Boaters can also check the webcam images before their arrival to ensure there is sufficient parking space, or plan to visit at an alternate time if the lot is full. While boat launch passes are required for all users, purchasing a launch pass does not guarantee parking availability. The boat launch area will also now be attended full-time by Lake Park Society staff, who will ensure all fees are paid and will actively manage the availability of the launch. Launch users who repeatedly fail to purchase a boat launch pass and have received two or more courtesy tickets will have their vehicles towed. In instances where parking is inadequate, staff will close the boat launch and prevent additional boats from launching to avoid congestion and ensure safety.

“Lake Park is such a special place that we all love, but area geography really restricts what we can offer for parking,” says Mayor Vickey Brown. “We hope these new services in the parking areas will help improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, and make it easier for all Comox Valley residents to plan their visit for a better experience for everyone visiting the Lake.”

These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to improving the facilities and services at Cumberland Lake Park for the safety and enjoyment of all visitors.
