Reminder: Property Tax Deadline is July 2, 2021
Posted on
The deadline to pay your property taxes and apply for your home owner grant is coming up on July 2, 2021.
Please pay by the deadline to avoid a 10% penalty on any outstanding amounts. Partial payments are welcome. It is not necessary to pay your taxes in order to claim the home owner grant.
Home Owner Grant
Effective 2021, all home owner grant applications are submitted directly to the province. Residents will no longer apply through the Village of Cumberland. For more information on Home Owner Grant, please visit Home Owner Grant – Province of British Columbia or call the BC Ministry of Finance at 1-888-355-2700.
Payment Options
It can take up to five business days for payments to be processed and received via online banking and third party credit card websites Plastiq and Option Pay. Due to the Statutory holiday on Thursday, July 1, 2021, it is suggested that if you have not yet paid your property taxes, in order to avoid late penalties, please make payment in-person (cash, cheque or debit) or by cheque dropped in the Village mail slot.
The Village office is open for in-person payment from 9am – 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of this week.
My mortgage holder pays my taxes. How do I know it will pay the correct amount?
Your best bet is to contact your mortgage holder to confirm the amount it is paying on your behalf.
