Stage 1 Water Restrictions in Effect May 1st
Posted on
The Village of Cumberland water system is now under annual Stage 1 water restrictions, which come into effect every year on May 1st.
Under Stage 1, lawn sprinkling is permitted between the hours of 4 am – 10 am and 7 pm -10 pm, on Wednesday and Saturday for even numbered addresses and Thursday and Sunday for odd numbered addresses.
Stage 2 and 3 are implemented by Village Council depending on the severity of the water shortage. Please do your part to reduce water consumption. The best time to water is early in the morning or in the evening. Mulch your garden and top dress your lawn with organics to help conserve soil moisture.
Currently all reservoirs are spilling water including Stevens Lake where the stop logs have been installed in the spillway which is done annually. Staff will continue to monitor inflow into the Village reservoirs while watching system demand and weather conditions to determine if and when to recommend Council consider the need to move to the next stage of restrictions.
