Utility Fees to Fully Fund Water and Sewer Infrastructure Improvements

Property owners should have received their 2013 invoice for water, sewer and solid waste collection services this week.
Residential property owners will notice a $35 increase from last year’s rates for sewer and water. Solid waste collection rates remain the same at $110 for residential and $185 for commercial in 2013.
The increased in the sewer and water fees will help pay for construction project for both the sewer and water systems. The sewer system includes storm water collection and treatment.
Capital projects for the water service include
- water source dam stability construction
- ultraviolet sterilization treatment in 2016, and
- annual reconstruction of sections of the underground water distribution system.
Capital projects for the sewer service include annual reconstruction of sections of the underground sewer and storm water collection systems.
The total residential utility rate, including water, sewer and storm, and solid waste, will increase from $543 in 2012 to $578 in 2013. Water billing based on water consumption will begin in 2014 with mock billing to begin in August 2013.
Utility rates are due on April 2, 2013. A 10% penalty will be applied to outstanding utility balances on April 3, 2013.
