Métis Week: Flag Raising November 12

The Village of Cumberland will raise the Métis Flag from November 12 until November 18.
The two important events for the Métis people in the Comox Valley in November are Indigenous Veterans Day and Louis Riel Day, which recognizes the great leader of the Métis and celebrates Métis culture and history in BC and Canada.
The MIKI’SIW Métis Association represents and serves the interests of Métis people residing in the Comox Valley and has over 440 members. They are a chartered community of the Métis Nation of British Columbia, who are recognized by both the Provincial and Federal Government of Canada.
The municipalities of Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland invite the public to attend these flag raising events on November 12, 2024:
- 10:30 am at the Village of Cumberland office, 2673 Dunsmuir Avenue
- 12:00 pm at Town of Comox (Town Hall), 1809 Beaufort Avenue
- 1:00 pm at City of Courtenay (City Hall), 830 Cliffe Avenue
