Be Part of Climate Action Planning for Cumberland

Posted on

Our climate is changing and we need to take action to reduce the amount of warming while also being ready for the consequences of the changes we expect.

You can help shape the development of climate actions for Cumberland. The Village is hosting two public engagement events to:

  • share current greenhouse gas emissions data
  • gather input on how the community can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and
  • identify ways to increase resiliency to extreme weather events, and
  • reduce the associated impacts on people, infrastructure, and natural ecosystems.

Attend either or both of these events:

Climate Action Café, Tuesday, February 6 from 5 pm – 8pm at the Masonic Hall (2687 Dunsmuir Avenue).

The event is drop-in, includes a kids activity table, coffee, and other light refreshments to nourish the discussions.

Online Climate Discussion, Thursday, February 15 from 6:30 pm – 8 pm.

Email planning@cumberland.ca to register and receive the online meeting link.

Input collected from these events will guide the draft climate actions and policies. Further feedback will be sought from the community on the draft actions in the spring. The Climate Action Plan will also inform the Village’s Official Community Plan (OCP) update, currently in progress.
