Cumberland Community Forest Trail Maintenance
Posted on
The Village of Cumberland has initiated fall trail maintenance in the Cumberland Community Forest municipal park. Works will initially be focused on the Space Nugget trail, including:
- Build a 20m re-route to by-pass the “lollipop” (located approximately mid-trail). Decommission existing trail.
- Water management and drainage improvements.
- Decommission select trail braids and informal short cuts.
- Erosion controls, root capping and trail tread upgrades in select locations.
Space Nugget is one of the most popular trails in the Cumberland Community Forest and requires ongoing maintenance to address erosion, drainage and trail braiding issues. This work will ensure a high quality user experience while mitigating against negative environmental impacts.
Additional work is also planned for Lost and Found, Two and a Juice, Buggered Pig and Kitty Litter.
Maintenance of trails in the Cumberland Community Forest is the responsibility of the Village, while UROC is responsible for trails in the Cumberland Trail Network outside of Village municipal parks.
