Cumberland Fire Rescue Responds to Early Morning Recreational Vehicle Fire

Posted on

A fire at an abandoned recreational vehicle left on a road right of way in the Union Road area was contained by Cumberland Fire Rescue in the early morning hours on January 20, 2025.

Recreational vehicle fires can pose risks to the community and to responding firefighters. RVs can burn quickly and can have propane and other fuels within, putting firefighters at risk. Despite the cold whether, this fire could have spread to surrounding forests, the adjacent cemeteries, and neighbouring industrial properties.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The Village was in the process of having the RV removed for disposal.

Cumberland Fire Rescue asks the community to be vigilant around fuels, chimneys, cigarettes, and other sources of fuel and heat to keep everyone safe this winter.
