Disaster Assistance Available for November 3-14 Flooding and Landslides

There is provincial Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) available for Comox Valley Regional District residents who experienced overland flooding and landslides during the heavy rain November 3-14, 2016. This includes Cumberland residents.
The DFA program provides financial assistance to replace or restore items that are essential to residents’ homes or livelihoods. DFA may cover up to 80% of eligible damage that exceeds $1000, to a maximum of $300 000. It does not pay for:
- Loss or damage for which residents could have obtained insurance
- Recreational or seasonal residences
- Luxury goods
- Land that has been lost through erosion
- Landscaping
Applications for assistance are due to the Province by February 14, 2017. For more information, see the Province’s DFA page.
