Cumberland Recreation is looking for a childminder to supervise young children on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings while their parents work out in a fitness class on the other half of the Cumberland Recreation Centre gymnasium. The classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15-10:15am, and we’re looking for someone who can commit to one or both of those classes each week. Each “shift” would include setting up some toys and play structures before the class, making an approximately 1.5-hr shift from 8:45-10:15 am. This is a contract position that pays $35/class.

This is a great opportunity for someone who misses the joy of having toddlers in their life (without the 24/7 commitment of having toddlers in your life!). Patience, maturity and an easygoing, playful manner are all assets. Prior experience working with children and first aid training are as well, although they are not necessarily required since the program is supervised by a first-aid certified instructor and parents are in the same space.

If you’re interested, please email rparton@cumberland.com with a brief summary of your experience and an indication of which day(s) you are available for. This position is open until filled, and we’ll begin reviewing responses on Monday, Sep 11.
