Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), who holds the position of Corporate Officer, the Deputy Corporate Officer provides administrative support to Council, Committees and other department heads; discharges the corporate administration responsibilities set out in the Community Charter; is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of all corporate records including notices, agendas, minutes and correspondence; prepares bylaws, policies and procedures; and discharges the duties of the Information and Privacy Coordinator. The Deputy Corporate Officer also acts as the Manager of Municipal Cemeteries and assumes the duties of the Corporate Officer in the absence of the CAO.
Applicants will have a degree in public administration, a certificate in local government administration, a minimum of two years experience in a mid to senior role in local government or other public sector organization, or equivalent experience and training in a local government setting. Considerable knowledge of legislation and regulations applicable to local government operations including but not limited to the Community Charter, Local Government Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and parliamentary procedures. Records management experience and strong communication, computer and website maintenance skills are essential. Experience in other relevant disciplines such as information technology, purchasing, human resources and risk management will be given priority in selection.
