More Smoke in the Air in April Due to Land Clearing Fires West of the Village

Residents are advised that Coal Valley Estates development will be undertaking open burning in areas west of Cumberland village through April. This burning is taking place to reduce the amount of slash debris from land clearing and to help reduce risk of forest fire during the hot summer months.
The Village is working closely with Coal Valley Estates to help reduce the impact on Cumberland residents. Burning will only take place if weather conditions and the BC Venting Index are suitable.
