RCMP Host Robbery Prevention/Community Consultation Meetings
Posted on
On March 21st, 2018 the Comox Valley RCMP will be hosting a Robbery Prevention Symposium and holding the Annual Community Consultation. The Comox Valley RCMP are looking for public input regarding the Detachments policing priorities for 2018/2019.
The Robbery Prevention Symposium presentation will be addressing three areas for businesses to consider:
1. Physical Changes – sight lines, security devices, alarms, decoy money, etc.
2. Procedural Changes – 0pening/closing procedures, money handling, staffing, etc.
3. The presentation also discusses what to do during a robbery and what to do after.
Interested businesses must send an e-mail to comoxvalleyrcmp@nullrcmp-grc.gc.ca. If seating is filled, this symposium will be held again in the future.
The Annual Community Consultation open house discussion:
“With a noticeable increase of robberies in the Valley, we thought it would be a good time to help educate local businesses, to ensure the safety of their employees and customers’ stated Comox Valley RCMP Media relations officer Cst Rob Gardner. “this is also the time of the year Inspector Walton has an open community consultation, when he wants to hear from the residents about what we are doing right or wrong and what they’d like to see us doing for them.”
We encourage businesses to attend the Robbery Prevention Symposium and citizens to attend the Community Consultation. Let’s work together to make the Comox Valley a safer place.
